Cloudron Calendar
We announced the Cloudron Calendar app on the forum a while ago, but we never really wrote about it. This post is that write-up.
Calendar is a web app for managing calendars. It is an alternative to Google Calendar on your own server. It has the usual features that you would expect in a modern calendar app: multiple calendars, a schedule, sharing, public pages, holiday calendars, subscriptions, and CalDAV sync. It even has booking pages, which we cover in another post.
Calendars #
At its core, events are organized into calendars. For example, you would create one for work, another one for personal, and another for a project.
Each calendar has its own color. You can view the events in the month, week, day, and year views.

You can choose which calendars are shown by selecting them in the sidebar.
Schedule view #
The schedule view shows upcoming events from the calendars you have selected.

Sharing #
A calendar can be shared with another Cloudron user or group.

Each user or group is either read only or read and write.
Share links #
A share link is a read-only ICS URL for one of your calendars. You can send the link by email. The recipient pastes the URL into a calendar app and subscribes.

Public sharing #
A calendar can be made public. Anyone with the link can view it on the web. The same page can be embedded in another website.

Holidays calendar #
A holiday calendar lists the public holidays for a country. The dates come from the Thunderbird holiday calendar. They stay up to date, and the events cannot be edited.

Subscribe to an external calendar #
You can subscribe to an external calendar with its ICS URL. If you have an iCalendar (.ics) file instead of a URL, import the events from that calendar’s settings.
Sync #
The calendars are exposed over CalDAV. You can use clients such as DAVx5, Thunderbird, and macOS Calendar to sync them onto your devices. The sync settings page shows the server URL, the username, and the well-known URL. For the password, you have to generate an App password in the Cloudron dashboard.

Feature request? #
Want to see something else? One reason we built this app is that we can change it ourselves and keep the experience polished. Please file any feature requests in the Calendar forum.
